A long time supporter of my music, Candice James generously gifted me 16 of her paintings with the intention for me to use them for promoting my music somehow. I am incredibly honoured and humbled!! Candice is not only a talented prolific painter but also a musician a bassist which is how we met, a writer, a songwriter and an astonishing poet! She was the Poet Laureate for New Westminster for many years! I am beyond honoured thank you so much Candice. I thought long and hard on how to do this so in addition to receiving a beautiful painting I will write a song about the painting based on the image and title. You will receive a rough demo version (voice and guitar) of the song and should I ever record it professionally you'll be the first to get a copy!

As an adoptee, I grappled with the common struggle of forging an authentic identity while being separated from my bloodline, a journey marked by a deep quest for roots. Despite the uncertainty surrounding my origins and ancestors, I found solace in the belief that they knew me, anchoring me in a sense of belonging. After years of longing, a poignant twist of fate revealed my paternal lineage just days after my adoptive mother's passing in 2021. Amidst the waves of deep grief and loss there was immense joy at the new discovery. I embraced the opportunity to connect with my birth father and delve into the rich tapestry of my Red River Métis heritage. This newfound chapter in my life not only unveiled the complexities of ancestral legacies but also reinforced the profound interconnectedness of humanity, echoing the sentiment of unity expressed in the phrase "All My Relations.”

I love Norine Braun...I would bake her a thousand cakes for but a single 'yeah'. Allan - CamelsBackandForth The Vancouver-based artist is both jazz purist--as in the semi-classical pop-inspired, "Skylight"--and an avant-garde neo-slam poet--as evidence on "Brave." Both mixes are great. It's the tunes that sound like funky jazz filtered through early Talking Heads that make Evolution of the Blood Star compelling listening. Ethereal numbers such as the aforementioned "Brave," "In Space" and "Q: Evolution of the Bloodstar," with it's eerie chorus "Papa can you hear me?/ Have I made the grade?" are captivating.

Her efforts in traditional forms, however, are uneven. The song "Alberta" sounds like every other country-folk-rocker who goes indie. Braun's voice may not be strong enough to travel in the circles of jazz mavens like Cassandra Wilson. What Braun has is oodles of wit and cleverness, with an understanding of composition that is most elegant when it ventures furthest from traditional musical forms. Recorded live on the web, it captures the essence of her live act and was produced by Norine in association with her band and mixed by James Bowers. Norine Braun and the Mood Swings cd won the 2003 "CD of the Year Awards" at kweevak.com. They were presented as one of the Top-50 CDs sent to the website kweevak.com in the 2002 calendar year. In the opinion of the judges these CDs represented the best submissions received for the year in terms of musical quality, production and overall theme!

The dazzling and dynamic line up on the cd are Bill Waldron on drums, Roger Skinner on keys, Rick Law on bass and Mark McKenzie on lead guitar and harmony vocals.

Jazz influences combined with a willing mix of the esoteric, metaphysical, folk and soft rock make Crow an eclectic companion. Crow is a gentle, soothing departure into dreamland and the eclectic soundscapes defy the typical pop album sound.
