A Hero In The Wind – Crowdfunding Campaign

Hello friends,
I’m so excited to share that I’ve recorded a brand-new album called A Hero In The Wind, and I’d love for you to be part of bringing it to life.

This project is deeply personal to me. The title track, A Hero In The Wind, was written to honour my birth father who passed away just after Christmas. It came from the heart — a song born of the powerful, healing conversations we shared as we got to know each other later in life. It’s both a farewell and a celebration — a tribute to love found, roots reclaimed, and the strength that lives on in the stories we carry.

As some of you know, reconnecting with my Métis heritage and my birth family has been a transformative journey. This album continues that exploration — blending soul, roots, blues, and folk into songs that honour resilience, identity, and the ties that bind us.

A Hero In The Wind features songs recorded during Steve Dawson’s one hour Henhouse pop up sessions — a thrilling and spontaneous process where magic truly happens in the moment. I worked with Steve and his incredible crew to capture that live-off-the-floor energy that’s raw, real, and full of feeling. Tracks like Just One Night, Bolts From The Blue, East Van Crossing, and Cannonball each tell their own story — from fleeting love to the lightning strikes of inspiration, to journeys through familiar streets that shaped who I am.

To make this release extra special, the album also includes three bonus tracks — Bird With a Song to Sing Remix, Eye of the Hurricane, and 2020 Reprise — produced by the wonderfully talented Adam Popowitz. These songs bring a reflective close to the record, rounding out the emotional arc with hope and healing.

Katarina Thorsen did the exquisite artwork of the cover drawn from a photo of my birth father. Katarina also made my first album cover Modern Anguish we've come full circle! Her son Julian Bowers did the stunning graphic design. 

 A Hero In The Wind is launching  November 7 2025.  These crowdfunding pre-orders are crucial in helping me get the message and the music out there. The album is recorded already and next up is promoting the album, marketing, publicity, radio and making music videos! These bundles are only available from October 8 to November 5, 2025 because they have to be designed and ordered for sizes and quantities  to arrive in time for the release.
